HOW TO USE THE HEWLETT-PACKARD LASERJET II PRINTER
WITH THE NONPROFIT GENERAL LEDGER PROGRAM, Version 1.12
1. After you install the Nonprofit General Ledger program, copy
the following files to your working diskette or to the NGL
subdirectory on your hard disk:
■ HPSETUP.EXE
■ HPRESET.EXE
■ HPNGL.BAT
■ HPSTART.BAT
2. Instead of entering NGLSTART to run the Startup program,
enter HPSTART. Instead of entering NGL to run the Nonprofit
General Ledger program, enter HPNGL.
3. In the Startup program, choose the option Set Up Your
Printer. In the Nonprofit General Ledger program, select the
option View/Change System Control Information and then Set Up
Your Printer. On the Set Up Your Printer screen, enter 14
for the code to turn compressed print on and 15 for the code
to turn compressed print off. All the other codes must be
zero, and the answer to the form feed question must be Yes.
Press Enter to get through all the entries, and then press
the space bar to go back to the menu.
4. Now you can print reports using both compressed and normal
print with the Hewlett Packard Laserjet II.
The batch file HPSTART runs the program HPSETUP, then runs
the Startup program, and then runs the program HPRESET. The
batch file HPNGL.BAT runs HPSETUP, then runs the Nonprofit
General Ledger program, and then runs HPRESET. HPSETUP sets the
laser printer to 60 lines per page and 6 lines per inch, with a
top margin of 3 1/2 lines. HPRESET sets it back to its normal
state.
